2 Minute Fudge

2 Minute Fudge 1 box of 1 lb (or bag) of powdered sugar 1/2 C of cocoa 1/4 t salt 1/4 C milk 1 T vanilla extract 1/2 C (1/4 #) butter (that's one stick folks) 1 C chopped nuts (optional) (okay, not really, it's better with nuts!) In 1 1/2 quart casserole dish (I use a big glass bowl) stir together sugar, cocoa and salt. Add milk and vanilla. (here it says to stir together until partially blended. I don't. It's fine.) Put butter over top in center of dish. Microwave on High for 2 minutes, until milk feels warm on bottom of bowl. Stir vigorously until smooth. Blend in one cup nuts. Pour into wax paper lined dish (8X4X3) Chill one hour. This is a soft rich fudge that is best kept in the fridge. I've found that sometimes the little clumps of powdered sugar don't break up in the mix. So my fudge has little white balls in it. Still tastes good. Someday I'll make the sugar super fine in the food processor to correct this problem. But too lazy so far. It

Lame O

I was catching up on a couple of blogs I like to read when I suddenly felt convicted about the lack of posts on my own blog. Now, granted, most of the time I have more important things to do. Like shower, which doesn't happen often enough. Like chase a munchkin, or a cat, or loads of laundry, dishes and unfinished craft projects. Truth is, I often have ideas of things to blog about. Like the weather. The massive amounts of rain, wind and crazy flooding. Then I convince myself that it's "boring" and don't. Besides I could be eating fudge instead. And really, everyone should be eating fudge instead. Which is another idea... share my 2 minute fudge recipe with the world. I mean, the five people who sometimes read this blog when there are new posts and they remember to check it. But even then, if they made it, that would mean that the world would have five people that are that much happier.

Grateful

g is for grateful I've decided. So here goes nothing. I'm grateful for.... my baby girl, blueberry, munchkin, small child, stinker, goober, Sage my Scotty my crazy cat my mommy friends my g-diapers my new sewing machine (which I'm not entirely sure about) that Mike L is coming to visit that Sage is only been waking ONCE during the night to eat that I'm still in my pj's that turkey day is a week away.... yum yum!!! Okay, well that's enough for now. Leave a comment and tell me what you're grateful for.

Julia Roberts copied ME!

Image
I would like you all to know (all five of you that is) that Julia Roberts has hopped on MY bandwagon. I will admit that it was not originally my bandwagon. However I have made friends with the people who own said bandwagon. And they are fine with me claiming it as my own. Julia Roberts uses g-diapers. Look at her being all green and such. But I used them first. I've talked to people about them. I've handed out coupons. I've even helped work a trade show booth. Now, Julia Roberts just had a interviewer ask what that cute thing on her son's bum was. So, may it be known, she has copied us. And by us I mean the wonderful people who call themselves g-Mum's. See the break of the story here: http://www.usatoday.com/life/people/2007-11-04-roberts-vanity-fair_N.htm See the real deal here: http://www.gdiapers.com

Day of Disaster

I finally got a chance, however brief, to use my new sewing scissors. The ones I finally broke down and bought because my both of my previous scissors had disappeared. I've been using my rotery cutter for most projects but the last creation that just wasn't possible. So, of course now that I've pulled them out and used them, I've discovered my old sewing scissors. And on top of that, I discovered THREE pair of scissors in my craft drawers. Not fabric scissors, but scissors none the lest. Then, the baby went to sleep. By herself on the floor in the most amazing way! I rushed to grab the coverlet from Ikea that I dyed. It didn't turn out so I have been planning to do a sort of reverse dye with bleach (diluted). I've done this before. In my rush to achieve progress during nap time, I did not think to change my clothes. I managed to get bleach water on my favorite green skirt. No joke. I look down and gasp. It looked bad. The worst part is that I s

movement

Sage can't exactly crawl, but she is moving like no tomorrow. But don't you worry, she'll be crawling soon. How do I know this? Well, it's simple. Sage loves the cat. I mean she LOVES Tigger. And if he's nearby, she makes her way over to him even if it's five feet. She'll travel across the living room for the chance to pull on the cats furry tail. Luckily for Tigger she doesn't move super fast, so he sees her coming. And hears her, as she squeals with delight upon approaching the cat. My life is never going to be the same. *sigh*

Better parenting through coffee

This morning, I almost poured coffee creamer over my cereal. I guess I really did need that second cup of coffee. I'm working on that now.

The child who refused to sleep

The child who refused to sleep is currently... refusing to sleep. In other news, she has discovered Tigger. She thinks he's fascinating and feels oh so neat. Unfortunately, her hands know only one action, "grab". Which is often followed by "pull". Tigger is not very thrilled about this. He hasn't bitten her yet. I think he knows. This morning he gave her a good hiss and moved away. Sage followed him with her eyes wistfully. There goes the cat and I don't know if I can really get over there... (which I think Tigger knows as well). Update: The child who refused to sleep is still refusing to sleep. Currently singing songs that seem like unhappy fussy mixed with enjoyment of using her own voice to create cool sounds. Whoa, I think we may have sleep. She's getting sleepy. Less noisemaking more sucking on the binky. Dare I say it, an hour and a half past scheduled nap time we have sleep. Now I've got to go. Napping time is precious!!!

Yep, it's true, the "mom" haircut

Image
Been to busy to blog, but I managed to find time to get my hair cut. Why? Because Sage was grabbing it and pulling in out in clumps. Besides it being annoying, it hurt! Now the hair is "all gone". PS - We'll see what it will really look like as time goes by and there isn't a professional to style it. :)

Meet Cleo the Cowgirl

Image
This is Sage's newest toy: Cleo the Cowgirl. Cleo has bells that jingle in her butt. The stick pony rattles and her chickens on a leash clank together. Cleo has beautiful blond ribbon hair and a big fat pink cowgirl hat. She also has matching pink cowgirl boots. And if things don't get any better, her horse, a bronco, is blue with orange hair. We love Cleo!

Yes, those are Oregon strawberries...

Image
Jealous? I would be. They were amazing! As long as you don't get a stomach bug after eating heaps of them. (Scott doesn't even want to see a strawberry for a very long time.) So I made freezer jam. Lots of freezer jam. If I might see you sometime in the next year and you'd like a jar, let me know. I'll put your name on one.

She will hate us.

Image
This has to be the worst picture of Sage ever. Of course she is only three months old. But it's still pretty bad for just three months old. I think she will hate this one. We better hide it away now because by the time she gets to 6 or so, she's going to know HOW to delete. Won't it be fun to show to her boyfriends. :)

Our social butterfly

A couple weeks ago we had dinner with our neighbors on our right. They told us that Tigger often hangs our on thier porch and stares at thier dog from the other side of the glass door. We were a little embarrassed. Then I discoved that the neighbors on our left have also interacted with Tigger. They saw him so often and didn't know his name that they called him "Oscar". Last night Scott helped these neighbors move a couch. The wife couldn't remember our names, but remembered Sage's name and (with much gusto) Tigger's name. Which is good because it means they like Tigger. Another neighbor was there helping who lives a couple houses down. He also knew Tigger. Apparently Tigger likes to sit on his chair on his deck. ! I think more people know our cat than know us. We have become "the couple with that large orange cat". I guess this is what happens when you have a friendly cat. It's a good thing he's friendly because now they know w

Weed

Last week I weighed my little girl and found her to be 13lbs 4oz. Not bad. I weighed her yesterday: 14lbs 4oz. That's a whole pound in a week. And I keep rotating through the clothes in her drawer.... it's never ending! What a luxury to have these problems. I have a healthy baby.

Well, yesterday she...

shot milk out her nose. Funny, hu?

Monster Child

I noticed that our dear little girl's clothes were getting tight. As in too small. I had guessed we wouldn't get through all the lovely 0-3 month clothes we had. Most were hand me downs, which made me glad because we didn't even look at a lot of them. Especially since she isn't even two months old yet. So, I went through her drawers and pulled out tons of clothes, rearranged and washed the new 3-6 month clothes I had. The only thing I wondered: Did she weigh enough to fit into those clothes? Or was it just the long torso that was throwing us off. I went to a breastfeeding group yesterday and had the opportunity to weigh her. Fully dressed (so subtract a couple ounces for clothing weight) she weighed... 12 pounds !!! Good grief! In the five weeks since her last doc. appointment she has gained over three pounds. One thing is for sure, I've going to develop buff arms before I know it!

Revenge of the Blog

Yesterday I wrote about not getting pooped on recently. Do you see where I'm going with this? This morning I decided to give the somewhat half-asleep child a bath. Because she was due for one and I wanted to wake her up in hopes that she would sleep through my afternoon doctor's appointment. (Which she did.) So, the poor child, who isn't super fond of bathing or possibly the baby bathtub, cried loudly toward the end of her bath. The hunger cry at that. So I grabbed a towel draped it over my lap (with one hand might I add because the other was still on the child), grabbed the sad hungry baby and proceeded to feed her. Right there, soaking wet, half way over the bathtub. Now I've said you never dance with a naked baby. I'd like to say never feed a naked baby, of course, that's not true. If your baby is hungry and uncomfortable from a bath (and consequently naked), you just feed her. That's when she decided to poop. While eating. On the towel, you ask

Lipstick

Image
Look ma, no hands. Here's to cleverly arranging the sleeping baby, myself and computer so that I can have both hands to type. So I can actually blog or return e-mails. Why not put the baby down? Because this is that delicate slumber, where she has fallen asleep on me, and the moment she is laid down on some cold flat surface, the eyes pop open. And I mean pop! And because I prefer sleeping to fussing. So, I come to understand that several people now read my blog. People I never expected to read my blog, read my blog. I hope I'm not boring any of you. Of course, if I am, I'll go back to my crew of three readers. I have a feeling that no matter what I type, they'll read it. Most of you are here for my candid descriptions of adventures with the child. I'll try to keep them coming. I've got one that's currently ripe for the blogging. Just wait til I get the pictures downloaded, because you need to see the pictures. This brings me to the e-mail I re

Action Shot

Image
Scott and I were taking photos to create Sage's announcement when she threw a fit about being dressed up. Okay, maybe it was because she was hungry or poopy (even though she had just eaten and eliminated). Either way we scored this awesome shot and thought we would share it with you. It's awesome! Safe to say that this one is not going on the announcement. Some people wouldn't think an "action shot" makes a good announcement photo. It makes an awesome blog photo! PS - Easter dress in action.

Free Time

Image
I do two things in my free time. Sleep and laundry. Exciting, hun? Scott caught me and my peeps sleeping. Now that is a picture of pure bliss and happiness!

Why there are no pictures of Sage's first bath

One of the most classic baby photos is of said child taking it's first tub bath. I had every intention of taking cute naked baby pics of Sage taking her first tub bath. I had no intention of Sage having her very first diaper blowout at Target. At our very first outing by ourselves. Of the complete soiling of her diapers, clothes, blanket and car seat. Oh, and me of course. Right before she would need to eat and be the most cranky possibly. While we were out, away from home, and by ourselves for the first time EVER. I made it home and got her upstairs and then was faced with the task of feeding and bathing a poop covered child by myself. And cleaning up the car seat in short notice as we had to go get dad from work in a couple hours. I thought about pictures. I remembered the camera was downstairs. (Did I mention I got us and all our poopy stuff upstairs already) While figuring out how to get back downstairs to grab the camera... I realized i would need three hands to

Never dance with a naked baby

because it's a bad idea. Not even if the baby is cute Not even if the baby is much happier diaper-less Not even if your favorite Clumsy Lover's song is playing Not even if no one's watching. Because that's how you get yellow baby poop on the carpet. Because that's how your favorite shirt gets covered in baby poop as you try to protect the carpet. Because that's one more reason you will be attempting to do yet another load of laundry.

Tigger & Sage

Image
Scott caught this interaction with the camera just barely. He got one photo and didn't think it turned out. However, it did. We love this picture. It looks like Tigger is kissing the kid. Actually, Tigger is sniffing the kid. Tigger pretty much stays away from Sage. He doesn't seem to be afraid of her but isn't sure he wants anything to do with her. Three times so far he has approached her and we've been very watchful. Twice he's sniffed her diaper and her head. The last time he gave her a few licks on the leg and one on the foot. Tigger's smart, I think he knows his place. Although he's still not happy about being shut out of the bedroom at night. That, of course, is because he still thinks the bassinet is the perfect size for a Tigger bed.

Family photo

Image
We finally took some family photos when Sage was about a week old. (We took some with Tigger but they didn't turn out well.) This is one of our favorites. Why do we all look so happy, even laughing? Well, Sage decided to make some very loud body sounds while my mom was taking pictures. That's right folks, the kid was pooping. She even looks like she's smirking during this picture. Well, whatever works, right? It is a good photo.

Hippie Chick

Image
One of my favorite outfits for Sage. This tie-dye onesie was handed down to us and I love it. It's never to early to put a kid in tie-dye. Especially if mom is a crafty person who probably will tie-dye with the girl when she is old enough. She wears this pretty often, as she won't fit in it soon. It's been two weeks since her birth, and she's already gained 9 oz. OVER her birth weight. She'll never made a full rotation through the drawer of Newborn sized clothes. Of course, it doesn't help that most days she doesn't wear much more than a diaper. As long as we're all happy, I don't think it matters. Besides, she'll get all gussied up at Easter.

Define perfect...

Image
Not my favorite picture of us. But you can see how yellow she is. She had jaundice . Apparently, this is common in breastfed babies. All the same we were on a three hour feeding schedule. Feed, supplement with formula and pump. This was pretty stinky. Babies who want to sleep do not like being woken up and force to eat. New parents do not like to set an alarm for every three hours to attempt this crazy cycle. Not to mention what pumping is like. I felt like a human cow. The lactation consultant corrected me, I am a dairy queen. I like that better. Even better, I like not pumping on a regular basis. Before Sage's birth, I discovered some funny dads, www.dadlabs.com They did a video where they test out a breast pump, on themselves. It's funny. Really funny. Please watch it. You'll be glad you did. Here it is linked: Dad Labs Nursing Video

Sleeping with Dad

Image
Here is Sage in the hospital sleeping on Dad's chest. It's a good thing babies are cute while they are sleeping, they sleep an awful lot! She is really cute, and look at all that hair. There is a recent medical study out that says heartburn during pregnancy is a sign that your baby will exit with hair. The nurses and even her doctor saw all that hair and asked, "Did you have bad heartburn?" I barely had heartburn. The next exclamation was about how light colored all that hair was. Apparently, that's not common. Well, our daughter is an odd duck. She had to fit in the family somehow.

Introducing Sage

Image
There she is. She appeared on Saturday, March 24 th . And I haven't gotten much done since. And I probably won't for a while. But at least she came out. I looked at her and thought - how did that fit in me? I don't know. While she might be more work on the outside and I might still be physically recovering, I'm awfully glad she made her exit. She really is much cuter in this form!

Baby Update

Simple version: She's still in me. Funny version: She has ignored the eviction notice and all further communication. My bro (slumlord extraordinaire) has referred me to a good lawyer. However, my mom-in-law is tight knit with a judge's wife and she is trying to get me in with the judge for immediate action. He's in Idaho so we'll have to see what kind of jurisdiction he has over here. Medical version: "You're a great candidate for labor. In fact, I'm surprised you haven't had her yet" spoken by midwife. I had my last appointment today, at 41 weeks. The plan is for me to have two non-stress tests (where they check to make sure the baby and uterus conditions are okay) every 3-4 days during the next week. Because of scheduling dilemmas, I had one this afternoon. Everything looks fine, actually, it looks really good. I have one Tuesday afternoon. If everything still looks good at that one, then they will schedule an induction time for the

Top Ten Reasons Geeks Make Good Fathers

Today Scott found a blog entitled "Geek Dad" And on it a post entitled "Top ten reasons Geeks Make Good Fathers" I'm not going to copy the whole thing here (just hit the link above and go read it for yourselves) but here's a little preview. 3. MATH. A huge plus here. No matter how old they get, Steve (geek dad) can still help with the math homework. My ability to be of assistance is going to last another few years before *I* end up throwing the math homework across the room in disgust. Looks like Scott found something the fits him perfectly. Not like he needed anymore Geek encouragement. Poor Sage. Excuse me, Lucky Sage. Sage? Sage? Are you going to come out yet?

We behaved ourselves during our first family photo. But it was all downhill from there! Bunny ears anyone?

I won a prize!

I really like my local radio station, Kink . I'm officially part of their online community which allows me to sign up for any of their contests and get their newsletter. This month they are celebrating 38 years on the radio. Every hour they play a couple songs from a month and year they were on the radio (ex. June 1991). They also draw a name. That person wins dinner for two from Applebee's and entered in the big drawing for a Summer Music Pass. The pass gets you into tons of this summers concerts and some good ones at that. Ever heard of John Mayer? Anyways, I just got an Applebee's gift certificate in the mail from Kink. I won. I'm in the running for the Summer Music Pass. Now that's exciting! The only thing better could be having a baby. I'm still waiting on that one.

The beauty of sleep

I don't know how. I don't. But I went to sleep last night. In my own bed, next to my own husband. Before the midnight hour, even before the cat joined us. That's right, hard to believe, but true. What's more, I slept there all night. And I mean ALL night. Granted, there were several trips to the bathroom but I was able to get back to sleep fairly quickly after each one. I woke when Scott left for swimming and when he was getting ready for work. I could have gotten up at 8 but gleefully stayed in bed until 9. Since I had been reading in bed before going to sleep, I can state that I spend a solid 12 hours in bed last night. I can't even remember the last time I did that! I'd like to say that now I've got energy or that I feel great, however that's not true. I do feel less grumpy. That's an improvement. There is only so much an over-due pregnant woman can ask for.

A little apology

After receiving a comment on my grumpy post by a friend, it occurs to me that I may need to clarify my feelings and thoughts when it's not the midnight hour. Don't get me wrong, it's good that people are excited about Sage and want to be in the loop. It's encouraging. It's good. We'd be sad if no one contacted us. We'd feel lonely and unloved. That being said..... when I answer the phone or open the e-mail, what exactly you say and how you say it can make something go over okay or make me feel like people have forgotten how to be sensitive. For example, "Are you in labor yet?" is not an okay question. I'd like to add that I have very high levels of hormones coursing through my body and don't handle anything as well. Another dangerous comment is "Have you had the baby yet?" This one is not outlawed but is only plausible if you are a funny person trying to be funny with it. And that's not ideal either. Truth is, I

Happy St. Patrick's Day

If you find a four-leaf clover, wish for a baby. Thanks.

A happy reminder?

Why yes, it is late at night and I am still awake. It's been the routine the last week approximately. I go to bed with Scott, listen to him fall asleep, watch the cat join us, listen to him fall asleep and then after an hour of lying there, get up. No one stirs. Then I'm on the computer reading blogs (or other assorted nonsense that requires little brain power) when my Google calender tab starts flashing red. I have a reminder. Usually this is a reminder of an event scheduled for the day that has long passed. It just so happened it's been flashing since 10 minutes before the event because the Google calender window was open. If I had known what it would have told me I would have never clicked on that tab. " Sage is due starting at 12:00am " Well thanks Google calender. I was not aware of that. As if I needed one more reminder from outside my overly stretched and taxed body that I am still pregnant. As if Sage will listen to Google calender. She certainl

while waiting for my munchkin to arrive, I needed something to do. I had been looking at the beautiful dresses in the store but hadn't wanted to buy anything because she has plenty of clothes for the first couple months. I was sure there was something cute in the dresser for her to wear for Easter. Then it occurred to me that I could make her a dress. I had a baby pattern that was pretty simple and had used before. I figured a simple little dress would be pretty easy. At the fabric store I found a very cuteembroidered linen that made Scott ooh and aah. (He doesn't usually react at all when shown fabric.) It went together pretty smoothly with the exception on those little arm holes. They were hard to finish because they were so tiny. Originally I was concerned that it might be to big (size 1-3mth , 7-13lbs) but considering how long she's hanging out, it should fit. Now I'm wondering about that drawer of newborn clothing.... good thing not much of it is new. Who knows if

Bored

hey, I found something to do. Change my template. I did like the old one, but it was the same as my good friend's blog, Irish Amy, aka, cowgirl in a city. A big city at that. Okay, I'm rambling. So, now, what do you think? Do you like it? Should I go back to dots? Let me know.

39 weeks

The answer to the question that everyone seems to be asking is this: "No, I am not in labor. Yes, I am still pregnant." I have a week until my official due date and I'm REALLY hoping I'm not going to have to wait that long. Being in limbo stinks. What is a preggo girl to do??? Literally, what is a pregnant girl to do. I'm miserable , I'm tired, I have no energy, any energy I have I feel I need to try to conserve "in case" I do go into labor, I don't have any projects to finish, I don't want to start any projects that can't get finished and lastly, I have this GIANT belly. Which always gets in the way. Or, if it doesn't get in the way, it affects how the rest of my body works. The whole rest of the body, nothing, and I mean nothing, escapes it's influence. It's like a drug. Except I haven't seen any "the more you know" commercials about pregnancy. I'd ask for suggestions, but I'm afraid of wha

and stuffed like a Thanksgiving turkey. Seriously, I am done being pregnant. Yes, my due date is not for another week and a half. Yes, women safely stay pregnant for up to two weeks after their due date. Yes, I will rip your head off if you tell me I have plenty of time and nature knows what's best. (Sorry, maybe it's the hormones) I can pretty safely say that unless you are currently very pregnant or have delivered a child in the last couple months, no matter what you say, I will look at you and think, "You don't have the faintest clue." Then I will smile and try not to be mean. Although I had an appointment with my midwife yesterday and it looks like things are on the way. Which is good because I would have been very unhappy if the news had been different. She thinks it's very possible she won't see me on the 14 th because I have had my baby. Being the wise woman she is, she

Finally...

Finally, REI has a gift registry. Where was that when I got married? Of course, we needed plates and linens and household stuff but..... we could have used camping gear instead! We could have eaten off our backpacking plates. Now, don't get the wrong idea, I haven't started a registry there. I'm not hinting. But the excitement, I could have a registry at REI . http://www.rei.com/giftregistry

President 2008

Now, I'd like to say I'm not one to get too "out there" about politics. Except his name is Barack Obama and I really like him. Tomorrow, (Sat. Feb. 10th) I believe he will announce he is offically running for president. Out there today is a preview video and if you will take two and a half minutes to watch it, you might get the feeling (as I do) that this guy is different. Here is the link to that video: http://link.brightcove.com/services/link/bcpid474543990/bclid492760671/bctid492760670 Enjoy.

Yes, my cat still loves me.

Image
I don't know how I didn't post Tigger in the baby swing. It came and I put it together and needed to test it out. The funny thing was that Tigger liked it so much he didn't leave the swing for a couple hours. Good thing he probably couldn't get into it himself.

Nesting... in creative speed.

Image
Here's the real story. I was going to make myself a baby sling. Then I decided to make one for a friend since I had a while to go. The first sling (Tigger tested - see previous post) made it's appearance at the baby shower. Even though I was supposed to have enough fabric to make two that time, I didn't. Well, another friend announced her pregnancy soon after and I thought... "hum, that was easy, perhaps I'll make her a sling too, since I still need to make myself one." I asked her and she confided that she secretly hoped I'd make her one. So that made two. And then I realized how many friends I knew from all over that were pregnant (or delivered in December). Suddenly two slings to create kept multiplying. So, in my nesting-ness, I felt like they needed to be done NOW before the baby arrives. So, you're looking at a picture of six baby slings. Yep, six. I'm sure there are more people who would like slings. I'm hiding from the

Creative Project

Image
Last week, this was my creative project. Lindsey said she wanted a pink leopard skin coat or bag. JoAnn's had the fabric, so I went to town. It's pretty wild, but as a jacket it's fairly decent. Lindsey loves it. I think it turned out pretty well. Next on the creative agenda : baby slings.

Stonewater @ Orenco: Snow Day @ Stonewater January 16-17, 2007

Our neighborhood realtor (who I have yet to meet) posted pictures of all the neighborhood snowmen. Our's made the cut! Okay, he probably just posted all the big ones around... which I'm assuming were mostly created by adults. Check out the last two pics. This snowman in person is absolutely awesome! See, Scott & I aren't the only crazys around. http://stonewateratorenco.blogspot.com/2007/01/snow-day-stonewater-january-16-17-2007.html#links

Big Kids like to Play too!

Image
Steph than snowman than snowman again with Scott Family with Snowman That's right, another snow post. What are you to do with me! Well, when it snows 3 inches in Hillsboro, Oregon (which I recently learned is more like 200 ft. above sea level) you make the best of it. For us, it was a no brainer. Build a snow man. Life sized and then decorate him. This is our creation. Great snow for making a snowman or snowballs for the record. Gotta have fun, right? Schools are closed tomorrow already. Now, this feels like winter!

3 inches...

Image

Oh Baby, it's Snowing!

Image
The land of rain is receiving snow. It was snowing an hour ago when I measured 2 inches and it's still snowing. It's a winter wonderland! Schools are closed, traffic is messy and the news broadcast has taken over TV programming. Tigger has enjoyed pouncing in it and hunting snowflakes. I think it's just something else. I've got pictures and will be sure to add them in a bit. I'd say it doesn't feel like Oregon... but then in other places they wouldn't be making such a big deal out of it. Did I mention that it's really cool! I might have to go build a snowman....

It's snowing finally...

It's not supposed to snow in Portland (hum, I feel like I'm repeating myself here). All the same, since yesterday afternoon that's all the news can talk about. Artic front, dropping temps, 1-3 inches of snow, schools delay start times... you get the sad drift. So this morning: wet and raining. It was snowing some places, but not here and not in Portland! It was cold but not even icy. I was hoping they weren't making total fools of themselves. So at about 10am I noticed little flurries outside. That's still called snow here. Now there are big fat wonderful flakes coming down and from what I can tell they're sticking. It's quite pretty. I'll take more pictures and post them if it continues to snow. Otherwise by next winter I won't even believe myself.

Back to the Grind

Well, it's been a month since I've posted anything. Now I knew it had been a while, but a month! There are so many things to catch up on and now is the time since it's raining. (Big surprise, right?) I could use the excuse that it's hard to do anything during the holidays, but that would be a cop out. It's hard to do anything when your pregnant, planning and coordinating a family wedding, holidays, traveling, taking care of a husband, packing, cleaning, getting cards out, baking, wrangling a cat, and incubating an alien. So, lets just try to overview noteworthy mentionings from the life of random steph over the course of the last month. - Wendi got married. - Wendi got married and things when beautifully (literally and figuratively) - Boise State Broncos won their bowl game. - Boise State won their bowl game as the underdogs in a way that made it one of the best college games ever. (This is not just my opinion, go read commentaries at ESPN or Fox Sports or etc.
