Look ma, no hands. Here's to cleverly arranging the sleeping baby, myself and computer so that I can have both hands to type. So I can actually blog or return e-mails. Why not put the baby down? Because this is that delicate slumber, where she has fallen asleep on me, and the moment she is laid down on some cold flat surface, the eyes pop open. And I mean pop! And because I prefer sleeping to fussing. So, I come to understand that several people now read my blog. People I never expected to read my blog, read my blog. I hope I'm not boring any of you. Of course, if I am, I'll go back to my crew of three readers. I have a feeling that no matter what I type, they'll read it. Most of you are here for my candid descriptions of adventures with the child. I'll try to keep them coming. I've got one that's currently ripe for the blogging. Just wait til I get the pictures downloaded, because you need to see the pictures. This brings me to the e-mail I re

Action Shot

Image
Scott and I were taking photos to create Sage's announcement when she threw a fit about being dressed up. Okay, maybe it was because she was hungry or poopy (even though she had just eaten and eliminated). Either way we scored this awesome shot and thought we would share it with you. It's awesome! Safe to say that this one is not going on the announcement. Some people wouldn't think an "action shot" makes a good announcement photo. It makes an awesome blog photo! PS - Easter dress in action.

Free Time

Image
I do two things in my free time. Sleep and laundry. Exciting, hun? Scott caught me and my peeps sleeping. Now that is a picture of pure bliss and happiness!

Why there are no pictures of Sage's first bath

One of the most classic baby photos is of said child taking it's first tub bath. I had every intention of taking cute naked baby pics of Sage taking her first tub bath. I had no intention of Sage having her very first diaper blowout at Target. At our very first outing by ourselves. Of the complete soiling of her diapers, clothes, blanket and car seat. Oh, and me of course. Right before she would need to eat and be the most cranky possibly. While we were out, away from home, and by ourselves for the first time EVER. I made it home and got her upstairs and then was faced with the task of feeding and bathing a poop covered child by myself. And cleaning up the car seat in short notice as we had to go get dad from work in a couple hours. I thought about pictures. I remembered the camera was downstairs. (Did I mention I got us and all our poopy stuff upstairs already) While figuring out how to get back downstairs to grab the camera... I realized i would need three hands to

Never dance with a naked baby

because it's a bad idea. Not even if the baby is cute Not even if the baby is much happier diaper-less Not even if your favorite Clumsy Lover's song is playing Not even if no one's watching. Because that's how you get yellow baby poop on the carpet. Because that's how your favorite shirt gets covered in baby poop as you try to protect the carpet. Because that's one more reason you will be attempting to do yet another load of laundry.

Tigger & Sage

Image
Scott caught this interaction with the camera just barely. He got one photo and didn't think it turned out. However, it did. We love this picture. It looks like Tigger is kissing the kid. Actually, Tigger is sniffing the kid. Tigger pretty much stays away from Sage. He doesn't seem to be afraid of her but isn't sure he wants anything to do with her. Three times so far he has approached her and we've been very watchful. Twice he's sniffed her diaper and her head. The last time he gave her a few licks on the leg and one on the foot. Tigger's smart, I think he knows his place. Although he's still not happy about being shut out of the bedroom at night. That, of course, is because he still thinks the bassinet is the perfect size for a Tigger bed.

Family photo

Image
We finally took some family photos when Sage was about a week old. (We took some with Tigger but they didn't turn out well.) This is one of our favorites. Why do we all look so happy, even laughing? Well, Sage decided to make some very loud body sounds while my mom was taking pictures. That's right folks, the kid was pooping. She even looks like she's smirking during this picture. Well, whatever works, right? It is a good photo.

Hippie Chick

One of my favorite outfits for Sage. This tie-dye onesie was handed down to us and I love it. It's never to early to put a kid in tie-dye. Especially if mom is a crafty person who probably will tie-dye with the girl when she is old enough. She wears this pretty often, as she won't fit in it soon. It's been two weeks since her birth, and she's already gained 9 oz. OVER her birth weight. She'll never made a full rotation through the drawer of Newborn sized clothes. Of course, it doesn't help that most days she doesn't wear much more than a diaper. As long as we're all happy, I don't think it matters. Besides, she'll get all gussied up at Easter.

Define perfect...

Image
Not my favorite picture of us. But you can see how yellow she is. She had jaundice . Apparently, this is common in breastfed babies. All the same we were on a three hour feeding schedule. Feed, supplement with formula and pump. This was pretty stinky. Babies who want to sleep do not like being woken up and force to eat. New parents do not like to set an alarm for every three hours to attempt this crazy cycle. Not to mention what pumping is like. I felt like a human cow. The lactation consultant corrected me, I am a dairy queen. I like that better. Even better, I like not pumping on a regular basis. Before Sage's birth, I discovered some funny dads, www.dadlabs.com They did a video where they test out a breast pump, on themselves. It's funny. Really funny. Please watch it. You'll be glad you did. Here it is linked: Dad Labs Nursing Video

Sleeping with Dad

Image
Here is Sage in the hospital sleeping on Dad's chest. It's a good thing babies are cute while they are sleeping, they sleep an awful lot! She is really cute, and look at all that hair. There is a recent medical study out that says heartburn during pregnancy is a sign that your baby will exit with hair. The nurses and even her doctor saw all that hair and asked, "Did you have bad heartburn?" I barely had heartburn. The next exclamation was about how light colored all that hair was. Apparently, that's not common. Well, our daughter is an odd duck. She had to fit in the family somehow.

Introducing Sage

Image
There she is. She appeared on Saturday, March 24 th . And I haven't gotten much done since. And I probably won't for a while. But at least she came out. I looked at her and thought - how did that fit in me? I don't know. While she might be more work on the outside and I might still be physically recovering, I'm awfully glad she made her exit. She really is much cuter in this form!
