Nesting... in creative speed.


Here's the real story. I was going to make myself a baby sling. Then I decided to make one for a friend since I had a while to go. The first sling (Tigger tested - see previous post) made it's appearance at the baby shower. Even though I was supposed to have enough fabric to make two that time, I didn't. Well, another friend announced her pregnancy soon after and I thought... "hum, that was easy, perhaps I'll make her a sling too, since I still need to make myself one." I asked her and she confided that she secretly hoped I'd make her one. So that made two. And then I realized how many friends I knew from all over that were pregnant (or delivered in December). Suddenly two slings to create kept multiplying. So, in my nesting-ness, I felt like they needed to be done NOW before the baby arrives. So, you're looking at a picture of six baby slings. Yep, six. I'm sure there are more people who would like slings. I'm hiding from them. Of course, if you must have one, well, I can give you the web address for the instructions. My iron and sewing machine need a serious break.

You rock Stephie! Way to make the "nesting period" of pregnancy so effective and useful! I expect you to rest up and in three years when I have a kid, you can be ready to make me a baby sling! Love you lots!

Monster Child

I noticed that our dear little girl's clothes were getting tight. As in too small. I had guessed we wouldn't get through all the lovely 0-3 month clothes we had. Most were hand me downs, which made me glad because we didn't even look at a lot of them. Especially since she isn't even two months old yet. So, I went through her drawers and pulled out tons of clothes, rearranged and washed the new 3-6 month clothes I had. The only thing I wondered: Did she weigh enough to fit into those clothes? Or was it just the long torso that was throwing us off. I went to a breastfeeding group yesterday and had the opportunity to weigh her. Fully dressed (so subtract a couple ounces for clothing weight) she weighed... 12 pounds !!! Good grief! In the five weeks since her last doc. appointment she has gained over three pounds. One thing is for sure, I've going to develop buff arms before I know it!

Lame O

I was catching up on a couple of blogs I like to read when I suddenly felt convicted about the lack of posts on my own blog. Now, granted, most of the time I have more important things to do. Like shower, which doesn't happen often enough. Like chase a munchkin, or a cat, or loads of laundry, dishes and unfinished craft projects. Truth is, I often have ideas of things to blog about. Like the weather. The massive amounts of rain, wind and crazy flooding. Then I convince myself that it's "boring" and don't. Besides I could be eating fudge instead. And really, everyone should be eating fudge instead. Which is another idea... share my 2 minute fudge recipe with the world. I mean, the five people who sometimes read this blog when there are new posts and they remember to check it. But even then, if they made it, that would mean that the world would have five people that are that much happier.
