Monster Child

I noticed that our dear little girl's clothes were getting tight. As in too small. I had guessed we wouldn't get through all the lovely 0-3 month clothes we had. Most were hand me downs, which made me glad because we didn't even look at a lot of them. Especially since she isn't even two months old yet. So, I went through her drawers and pulled out tons of clothes, rearranged and washed the new 3-6 month clothes I had. The only thing I wondered: Did she weigh enough to fit into those clothes? Or was it just the long torso that was throwing us off. I went to a breastfeeding group yesterday and had the opportunity to weigh her. Fully dressed (so subtract a couple ounces for clothing weight) she weighed... 12 pounds !!! Good grief! In the five weeks since her last doc. appointment she has gained over three pounds. One thing is for sure, I've going to develop buff arms before I know it!

Three day weekend!

Separate from our two camping trips planned for the summer, I have been longing to check out Olympic National Park.  It's one of the closest to us and we've never been there.   Specifically, I saw this picture and I just wanted to go check it out myself. Sol Duc Hot Springs.   In a National Park.   With a campground near by.    Why in the world have we not checked that out?!? So back when I was planning out grand adventures I suggested that we go there over Memorial Day weekend.  Everyone was game.   There were plenty of campsites available.  That was surprise to me, apparently I was just early enough because now they're completely full. While this trip was just a separate little adventure from our summer gallivanting, it seemed like a good time to practice for the future.   I've been packing, double checking my lists and planning.  I'm calling this the baby step into our camping summer.   We are taking things we might not ...

Today I've decided to post an oldy but a goody. This is a picture that reminds me of exactly who Willow is. It's one of my favorites. It was taken the summer of '99. Way before Scott and I were even friends and Sage was a twinkle in anyone's eye. When I was young and idealistic. Oh the memories. I could wax and wane about how wonderful that time was.... but it's funny how you don't remember the more challenging stuff. That summer wasn't perfect, but it was wonderful.
